One Arrow
Heat was a powerful panel speaker at an important event Rachel attended for mental health support in the hospitality industry (Mind the Bar). Rachel later discovered that he was a strong believer of ethical food sourcing, using premium Fraser Valley Pork to create 4 different flavours of 100% naturally smoked, hormone-free bacon. Chef Heat has an extensive culinary background and strongly believes in the power of community.
Tality Kombucha
Without knowing it, Rachel met the owner of Tality Kombucha at the Shipyards Christmas Market a few years back, where she instantly fell in love with one of Tality’s many delightful flavours that he was sampling. Peter set out to make a high-quality product that added value to the community. It’s safe to say he succeeded, as we are all proud to say that Tality Kombucha is a local North Vancouver product!
Honey’s Doughnuts
Everyone remembers their first Honey’s donut. Rachel moved to Vancouver 7 years ago: within her first week was divinely blessed with this experience. She takes each and every friend/family member on a trip to Honey’s while visiting Vancouver. Reliably, the most common message she receives when they return home from their trip is: “I miss Honey’s”. The owners, Ashifa and Ashaka, have done a fantastic job at making Honey’s feel like home since 1996.
Nelson the Seagull
Once upon a time, Rachel worked downtown Vancouver - a hop, skip and a jump from Nelson’s gastown location. Charming and picturesque, its café was set to be one of the essential stops in the Quinton Coastal day tour. Rachel loves finding Nelson the Seagull sourdough bread in brunch spots around town. As such, she wanted to bring it right into your home to enjoy alongside a blissful morning coffee.
Zimt Chocolates
Zimt was founded by a (super cool) woman on a mission. Fuelled by passion for nothing but the best, Emma ensured her products were certified fair trade, 80% cacao, certified organic ingredients, vegan and all with sustainable packaging. The Zimt team makes an impact that extends beyond our community as a result of the care they take in their products. Considering that the Zimt chocolate bar is a staple in all of Rachel’s home care packages to friends and family outside of Vancouver, including them in the Quintessentials was a no-brainer. Zimt chocolates, quite frankly, are a delicious chocolate miracle that melt in your mouth.
Savary Island
Pie Company
A dear friend once brought Rachel a Savary Island pie to a dinner party she was hosting; her life was changed. Walking into Savary Island is a magical experience for someone who loves bread, mochas and baked goods (Rachel). Prepare yourself for grilled cheese sandwiches, soda bread, chocolate cake, carrot cake, giant cookies and a million other joys that make your heart smile. A family-owned company that is rooted in hard work and employee morale, all products are made with extreme care and quality ingredients.
